Art and Design 

We follow the National Curriculum Art and Design programmes of study and aim to ensure that all pupils: 

• produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences 
• become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques 
• evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design 

• know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms. 

Art and Design stimulates creativity and imagination, and we ensure children are exposed to a wide range of subjects, techniques and materials (pencil, charcoal, paint and clay etc.). All children learn about great artists, artistic movements and designers. 

We have worked tirelessly to embed Art and Design into our curriculum: the school has an art specialist that teaches Years 1-6 and work is celebrated around the school to show an appreciation and showcase the enjoyment the children have for this subject. 

 In addition, all year groups are given regular opportunities to visit galleries, museums and other venues for maximum exposure to a varied range of art and craft work.
